For developing Intelligent artifacts

In the near future, "intelligent" artifacts capable of supporting human workers or coorporating with humans or other robots will be one of important factors for manufacturing systems. A multi-robot system (MRS) is a typical example. Our approach to an MRS is giving the ability of acquiring cooperative behavior through experience to each robot by autonomous role development and assignment so that an MRS has the potential for system-level robustness.

We call this particular ability autonomous specialization. The capability implies that robots have much greater autonomy than those prepared using conventional methods. From this perspective, we are developing mechanisms for improving autonomous adaptability to an MRS.
